Shingle, rubber and flat roofs

Roofing in Leominster, from chimney flashing to complete tear-offs

Residential and commercial roofs: shingle, rubber and flat, repairs for water damage, and full tear-offs, with GAF and Atlas shingles and CertainTeed products.

Chapter 01

Where a New England roof gives out first

Water finds the weak seam before anything else does. On a Leominster roof that usually means shingles worn thin by freeze and thaw, slate that has slipped or cracked, a gutter that no longer carries water clear of the eave, or the flashing where the roof meets the chimney. Each one lets moisture past the surface, and the damage shows up inside the house first, as a stain on a ceiling or damp insulation, long after the leak began.

JMP Construction treats roofing repairs for water damage, slate and gutters as real work in their own right, so a failed flashing or a cracked slate gets fixed as exactly that. Replacement is the other half of the job, and the line between the two is drawn by looking at the roof itself, which is what the free estimate is for. Call Jay at (978) 235-4746 and describe where you have seen the water.

Chimney flashing, and a walk-through before and after

Chimney flashing is the metal that bridges the gap between the masonry and the roof surface, and it is the joint most likely to open up, because brick and roofing move differently with every season. When the seal lets go, water runs down the chimney wall and into the house, often a long way from where it got in. Replacing a few shingles around it does nothing for that.

JMP does chimney flashing as its own service, and Jay will walk through it with you before the job and again after it. Before, you see what is failing and what is going to change. After, you look at the finished flashing yourself instead of taking it on trust. That walk-through is part of how JMP works on a Leominster roof.

Shingle roofs go on with GAF and Atlas shingles, with CertainTeed products where the job calls for them, and the crew also installs rubber roofs and flat roofs. Complete tear-offs are on the list too: the old layers come off, the deck underneath gets looked at, and the new roof is built on what is sound. The crew follows the protocols for job site safety, and the owner is present at each job site.

Chapter 03

Commercial roofs, and what to have ready for the estimate

JMP roofs commercial buildings as well as houses, including rubber and flat roofs, which behave very differently from a pitched shingle roof. A flat roof sheds water slowly, so the seams, the drains and the edges carry the whole load, and a small failure can hold water against the membrane for a long time before anyone sees it inside the building.

Estimates are free, and a little preparation makes the visit count. Know where you have seen a stain, a drip or a damp patch, and roughly when it first appeared. Note whether the roof is shingle, slate, rubber or flat, and whether a chimney or skylight sits near the trouble. Jay looks at the roof itself, and your notes get him to the right spot faster.
